Preventive maintenance, SLA and productivity
Service the asset before it breaks, not after the customer calls.
F1 Agent maintenance plans create future work orders and service appointments automatically for every asset that needs recurring service. Asset history, SLA compliance and technician productivity dashboards show whether the plan is being kept.

In short
F1 Agent Maintenance Plans is the preventive service and performance module of F1 Agent Field Service on Salesforce. A maintenance plan defines recurring service requirements for an asset or account, and F1 Agent automatically generates the future work orders and service appointments.
The module also maintains each asset's service history across its lifecycle, measures service execution against the SLA defined for each type of work, and provides a technician productivity dashboard showing jobs assigned, jobs resolved and resolution time.
The real problem
Preventive maintenance usually runs on one person's memory.
You sold a service contract that promises a visit every quarter. The schedule lives in a coordinator's spreadsheet. When they are on leave, or the sheet is out of date, the visit slips, the machine fails and a planned job becomes an emergency.
"Was the quarterly service done?"
Nobody can answer without opening three spreadsheets and calling the technician.
"Are we meeting our SLAs?"
SLA reports are built monthly by hand and rarely match what customers experienced.
"Which technicians are overloaded?"
Managers see who is busy, not who is resolving. Workload and outcome are tracked separately, if at all.
"What has this machine been through?"
Asset history is split between breakdown tickets and planned-service sheets, so patterns stay hidden.
Reactive versus preventive
A mature service operation runs both, from the same asset record.
Cases represent reactive service: something happened and the customer needs help. Maintenance plans represent proactive service: something must happen before a failure, on a predetermined schedule. Teams that keep the two apart lose the most valuable insight they have: which assets keep failing between planned visits.
Reactive only
Workload spikes with failures. Emergency jobs push out everything else, SLAs suffer and technicians spend their days firefighting.
Planned plus reactive
Planned work fills the calendar predictably, fewer breakdowns reach the queue, and capacity is left for genuine emergencies.
What a good maintenance programme should guarantee
No visit depends on memory
Work orders appear on schedule without anyone creating them.
One history per asset
Planned and breakdown work on the same timeline.
SLA measured, not estimated
From actual job data, by work type.
Workload and outcome together
Assigned, resolved and how long it took.
How many planned visits slipped last quarter?
Send us your service contracts and asset list. We will map them into F1 Agent maintenance plans and show you the visits your calendar should already contain.
How maintenance plans work
Define it once. F1 Agent runs the cycle.
Define the plan
Recurring service requirements for an asset or account, for example every three months.
Generate work orders
Future work orders are created from the plan, with the right work type.
Create appointments
Service appointments follow, ready for dispatch or auto-dispatch.
Perform the visit
The technician checks in, completes the work and confirms parts used.
Update asset history
The visit joins the asset’s lifecycle record next to any breakdowns.
Track SLA and productivity
Compliance and technician metrics update from the job data.
Preventive maintenance plans
Recurring service requirements for an asset or account. Problem solved: visits that depend on someone remembering. Outcome: work orders and appointments created on schedule, every cycle.
Asset lifecycle and history
Each asset keeps its installation, planned visits, breakdowns and parts in one history. Problem solved: hidden failure patterns. Outcome: better decisions on repair, replacement and plan frequency.
SLA compliance and productivity
Service execution measured against defined SLAs, plus a technician productivity view. Problem solved: SLA reports built by hand. Outcome: commitments you can see and manage daily.

Use cases and industries
Where preventive service matters most.
Medical equipment
Calibration that cannot be missed
Devices installed in hospitals need recurring calibration by qualified engineers, and missed visits create clinical and audit risk.
Situation
Quarterly calibration for hundreds of devices across many sites, tracked in a coordinator’s spreadsheet.
With F1 Agent
A maintenance plan per contract generates work orders and appointments each quarter, matched to certified engineers.
Outcome
Every calibration scheduled automatically, with a full history per device.
Equipment and machinery
Planned service under AMC
Industrial customers buy annual maintenance contracts to avoid unplanned downtime, and judge you on whether visits happen.
Situation
AMC visits slip when breakdown work takes over the calendar.
With F1 Agent
Planned work orders are generated in advance, so capacity is reserved and dispatch can balance planned and reactive jobs.
Outcome
Fewer breakdowns and visits that happen when the contract says.
Appliances and electronics
Recurring service for consumers
Filter changes and annual servicing keep appliances running and create recurring revenue.
Situation
Customers are reminded late or not at all, and revenue from routine service is lost.
With F1 Agent
Plans on each registered asset create the next service appointment on schedule.
Outcome
Predictable service revenue and happier customers.
Fewer emergencies. Kept promises.

FAQ
Questions about maintenance plans and SLAs.
What is a maintenance plan in F1 Agent?
A maintenance plan defines recurring service requirements for an asset or account. Based on the plan, F1 Agent automatically generates future work orders and service appointments.
Do we still need someone to create the quarterly work orders?
No. If a machine needs servicing every three months, the maintenance plan drives that process, so nobody has to remember to create the work order each quarter.
How does preventive maintenance relate to cases?
Cases represent reactive service, when something has gone wrong. Maintenance plans represent proactive service on a schedule. F1 Agent supports both, so the full service lifecycle sits on the same asset record.
How is SLA compliance measured?
Different service requests can have defined SLAs, for example resolution within a set number of hours. F1 Agent measures service execution against those commitments so managers can see compliance by technician and for the whole operation.
What does the technician productivity dashboard show?
It shows the number of cases or jobs assigned, the number completed or resolved, the resolution timeline and other performance indicators for each technician.
What is asset lifecycle management in F1 Agent?
F1 Agent maintains information about each customer asset and its service history, so over time you build a complete operational picture of every asset, including planned visits, repairs and parts used.
Can planned visits be auto-dispatched?
Yes. Appointments generated by maintenance plans go through the same dispatch module, where AI can recommend a technician or assign the appointment automatically.
Is this suitable for annual maintenance contracts (AMC)?
Yes. AMCs and other service contracts with recurring visits can be modelled as maintenance plans on the relevant assets or accounts.
Which industries use maintenance plans most?
Medical equipment, industrial equipment and machinery, and appliance and electronics service networks, where recurring service prevents failures and is often part of the contract.
How do we start?
Start with your highest-value contracts. Set up their assets, plans and SLAs on your existing Salesforce org, run one full maintenance cycle, then extend to the rest of your installed base.
