Route Optimization
The shortest route to the wrong customer is still a wasted day.
F1 Agent answers three separate questions with three layers of intelligence: who your reps should visit, on which day, and in what order. Teams cut travel time by up to 30% and spend it in front of customers who buy.

In short
F1 Agent Route Optimization is a Salesforce-native planning capability for field sales teams that combines three separate layers: AI recommendations (who to visit), an AI multi-day planner (which day to visit them) and Google-based route sequencing (in what order to travel).
AI recommendations rank customers by opportunity potential, order potential, priority and territory. The multi-day planner spreads a larger list of customers across days by geography. Route optimization then orders each day's stops to reduce travel distance, freeing time for customer meetings.
The real problem
A rep with 300 customers and time for eight is making a decision every morning. Usually by habit.
Left alone, reps visit who they know, who is close and who is friendly. They travel in the order they remember. Nothing about that is malicious. It is just expensive.

What most route tools get wrong
Route planning is three problems, not one.
Most "route optimization" only solves the last step: sequence. But if the list of stops was wrong, a perfect sequence just gets the rep to the wrong customers faster. Treat the three questions separately, and solve them in order.
Nearest is not most valuable
A proximity-only plan will happily send a rep to five low-potential shops next to each other. Value must come first.
Plan the week, not just the day
Day-by-day optimization misses clustering. The biggest savings come from putting the right customers on the right day.
Keep the human in charge
Recommendations should be editable by the rep and reviewable by the manager. AI proposes, people decide.
How much distance is in your current beats?
Share one territory's customer list and a week of visits. We will re-run it through all three layers and show the kilometres and hours that come back.
How it works
From a territory full of customers to a sequenced day, in four steps.
Territory and data
Customers, territories and business data already in Salesforce: opportunities, orders, priority.
AI picks who
High value customers recommended and grouped by geography, or added to an existing beat.
AI spreads across days
A multi-day plan with each day's customers clustered. Sent for approval where required.
Route sequenced
Each day ordered for distance and pushed to the rep's visit timeline with navigation.
Or just ask Lumina
Reps and managers can plan by voice or chat: "Build me a high potential beat for today in Sector 29" or "Find customers near me and add them to this afternoon." Lumina creates and schedules the beat, then route optimization sequences it.
Use cases
Which layer solves which problem.
| Situation | Problem | Layer that solves it | Outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| Urban FMCG beat, 250 outlets per rep | Reps keep visiting friendly low-order shops | AI Recommendation | High potential outlets added to each day, order value per visit up |
| Equipment sales, tier 2 towns | 20 customers to cover, tours zig-zag across the state | AI Multi-Day Planner | Clustered three-day tour, one fewer hotel night |
| Distributor rep in heavy traffic | Correct dealers, inefficient order, late arrivals | Route Optimization | Shorter day, one extra visit fits |
| Meeting ends early | An hour free, no plan for it | Lumina + Nearby Search | Nearby high potential customers added and resequenced |
Industries
The layer that matters most depends on your market.
FMCG and consumer goods
Biggest lever: Who
Outlets are dense, so distance savings are modest. The win is in picking the outlets with order potential every day and covering the long tail on rotation.
Distribution
Biggest lever: Order
Dealers are spread across industrial areas and markets. Sequencing turns six-visit days into seven or eight.
Equipment and machinery
Biggest lever: When
Long distances and outstation tours. Grouping customers onto the right days saves fuel, hotel nights and expense claims.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Who to visit | AI from opportunity, order and priority data | Rep's judgement | Imported list | Needs an AI model and data work |
| Which day | AI multi-day planner | No | Sometimes | Complex to build |
| Sequence | Google-based optimization | One stop at a time | Yes, often strong | Maps API integration |
| Connected to visits and expenses | Same Salesforce records | No | Export and import | If you build it |
| Honest trade-off | Recommendations improve with good account data in Salesforce | Free, but no planning | Great routes, blind to customer value | Maximum control, highest cost |
Why F1 Agent
Routing that knows your customers, because it lives where they do.
A route planner outside Salesforce sees addresses. F1 Agent sees opportunity potential, order history, priority and territory, because it runs inside your org. Built by Cloud Ingenious, a Salesforce Summit Partner.
Run a two-week route pilotPilot one territory
Compare distance and order value against a control team.
Turn on layers one at a time
Start with sequencing, add recommendations and multi-day planning when ready.
Reps stay in control
Recommendations are proposals. Beats can still go through manager approval.
Uses your existing data
Accounts, territories and opportunities already in Salesforce.
"We had tried route apps before. They saved a few kilometres. What changed things was the AI choosing which dealers to see. Our reps now drive less and sell more."
FAQ
Route optimization questions.
What is route optimization in field sales?
It is the process of deciding the most efficient order in which a rep should visit a set of customers. In F1 Agent it sits alongside two AI layers that first decide which customers to visit and on which day.
What are the three layers of intelligence?
AI Recommendation answers who should I visit. The AI Multi-Day Route Planner answers on which day should I visit them. Route Optimization answers in what sequence should I travel. They are separate capabilities because they solve separate problems.
What data does the AI use to recommend customers?
Factors such as opportunity potential, order potential, customer priority, territory and other relevant customer and business information held in Salesforce. Customers are also grouped by territory and geography.
How does the route sequence get calculated?
F1 Agent uses Google routing capabilities to determine a more efficient sequence across the selected locations based on travel distance.
Can reps change the AI's plan?
Yes. Recommendations are proposals that feed beats and visits. Where you need governance, beats can go through manager approval before they become final.
Does it work for multi-day outstation tours?
Yes. The AI Multi-Day Route Planner takes a larger set of customers and splits them across days, for example 20 customers over three days, grouping them geographically.
Can I plan routes by voice?
Yes. Lumina, F1 Agent's AI assistant, can create, schedule and assign beats, find nearby customers and identify a high potential beat for today from a spoken or typed request, in multiple languages.
How much travel can we save?
It depends on how your beats are planned today and how spread out your customers are. Teams using F1 Agent report up to 30% less travel time. A route savings estimate on one of your territories gives you a number specific to your business.
Does route optimization affect travel expenses?
Indirectly, yes. Shorter routes mean less distance, and F1 Agent's automatic travel expense is calculated from the distance travelled under your configured policy.
